Staying hydrated is important, especially during hot weather. When the temperature rises, the body loses water faster through sweat, which can lead to dehydration.

This can make you feel weak, affect digestion, and even cause serious health problems if ignored.

To avoid this, here are eight simple ways to keep your body hydrated and active during extreme heat.

1. Drink water first thing in the morning

Make it a habit to start your day with a glass of water. This helps replace lost fluids overnight and prepares your body for the day ahead.

2. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty

Many people drink water only when they feel thirsty, but thirst is a sign that the body is already dehydrated. Set reminders to drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty.

3. Add flavour to your water

Lemon Juice

If you find plain water boring, make it more enjoyable by adding slices of lemon, cucumber, mint, or berries. This can also provide extra nutrients.

4. Eat foods with high water content

If you are physically active, drink water before you start and after you finish. This helps prevent dehydration, especially if you sweat a lot. Coconut water is also a good alternative as it helps replace lost minerals.

7. Check your urine colour

One way to know if you’re drinking enough water is by checking your urine. Pale yellow means you’re well-hydrated, while darker urine is a sign that you need to drink more water.

8. Wear light and breathable clothing

Loose clothes made from cotton or linen help keep the body cool and reduce sweating, preventing too much water loss.Staying hydrated doesn’t have to be complicated. By making these simple changes, you can avoid dehydration and stay active even in extreme heat.
