Speaking during the church’s monthly Thanksgiving Service at its Lagos headquarters on Sunday, which coincided with his 83rd birthday, Adeboye underscored that life’s conclusion can far exceed its beginning.
Addressing the congregation, he combined biblical teachings with personal insights, urging attendees to focus on building a promising future. He described life as a three-phased journey—past, present, and future—highlighting the significance of making wise decisions today for a better tomorrow.
Adeboye referenced the Bible to support his message, quoting Isaiah 3:10: “Say to the righteous, it shall be well with him.”
He explained that the present is shaped by past choices, just as today’s decisions will influence the future.
Citing biblical examples, he pointed to the story of Abraham as a testament to God’s power in ensuring a progressive future. He said that Abraham’s lineage experienced generational growth, with his descendants multiplying from a single recognised son to a nation of 600,000 people by the time they left Egypt.

Adeboye also stressed the role of preparation and discipline in securing a greater future, particularly in raising children.
He warned parents against laxity, advising them to be firm in guiding their children in the ways of God.
He reminded children of the importance of honoring their parents, linking it to longevity and divine blessings.
The cleric further highlighted diligence, sowing, and humility as essential principles for a successful future. He warned against pride, describing it as a major obstacle to progress, and urged individuals to submit to God for a secure destiny.
Concluding his sermon, Adeboye assured his audience that a glorious future is only guaranteed for those who have Christ in their lives. He affirmed that true security lies in faith and obedience to God’s will.
