Aderonke Ariyo Joins Grammy Awards Board
Nigerian disc jockey and music producer Aderonke Ariyo aka “DJ Soupamodel” has been selected as the “Recording Academy Awards Governor” for the Grammys, washington D.C Chapter.
The Grammys, awards the world’s biggest music awards which is made up of “musicians, producers, recording engineers and other recording professionals dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for music and its makers.”
Nigeria’s Aderonke Ariyo, who sits on the board of the Washington DC chapter will be part of the artistes that will sit on the board, deciding how the organisation will run.
The organisation itself has 12 chapters in the United States and Ariyo will be the governor of the Washington DC chapter for the next twelve months.
She took to her Instagram page and shared her excitement:
“Africa to the (world) the Grammys DC yearbook is out! Here are the Governors!” She wrote, adding, “Places your last name can’t take you! This is all you GOD. Now let’s celebrate. Great day.”
Dj Soupamodel is also known as Africa’s first female DJ. She has worked alongside Wizkid, Vector, Bennie Man, Wale, she’s mostly known for her EDM, House music remixes of singles by Mavin artistes Dr Sid and Tiwa Savage.
