No one is free from criticism and no other week since the beginning of the year has shown that more than this week. From getting slammed for playing the race card to ripping people off their source of income to getting banned from misusing private messages, here is a rundown of the week:

Words to last a lifetime

Sean “Diddy” Combs has revealed his times with his ex Kim Porter in an exclusive interview with Essence magazine. The 49-year-old said that before she passed on, she told him to “‘take care of my babies.’” It was not until she was reported dead that those words hit him hard. He said that he went into “mommy mode” and ensured that none of his children heard it from the media. Since her death from lobar pneumonia in 2018, Diddy has, several times, expressed his sadness and mentioned things he would have done while she was alive.

Racism victim?

Reality TV star, Jordyn Woods was involved in a cheating scandal when she kissed Tristan Thompson, the baby daddy of Khloe Kardashian (sister to Woods’ best friend, Kylie Jenner). Following the scandal, Woods blamed her action on alcohol and also publicly apologised to the
Kardashian-Jenner family. However, during her visit at the Homecoming Festival held in Lagos, Woods explained that she felt, as a “black woman”, what is like to be “bullied by the world”. However, many on social media accused Woods of trying to play the abused black woman card rather than own up to her actions.

Get well soon

Veteran Nigerian actor, Babatunde Omidina (Baba Suwe) has finally arrived in the United States of America for medical treatment. It would be recalled that popular Yoruba comic actor solicited for funds to help treat chronic diabetes and members of the public as well as well-meaning Nigerians including the vice president, Professor Yemi Osibanjo donated to his cause. Sharing a photo and video of Baba Suwe in the US alongside his son, Sola Omidina and Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, Baba Suwe once again thanked everyone that came to his aid.

Yahoo still a crime?

Naira Marley has never been one to shy away from supporting the Advanced Fee Fraud (popularly known as Yahoo). Despite the issues of misinformed identity, its effect on trust and businesses, the “Japa” crooner is convinced that there is nothing wrong with it. In a recent outburst on Instagram, he accused Simi of “acting up” when he asked her a question. Despite the criticism he received from several other artistes, Nigerian artiste Davido in an attempt to defend him wrote, “Nobody holy”, a statement that has since attracted heavy backlash.

Goodbye to public viewing

Facebook-owned messaging app, WhatsApp is introducing a new update which will pr event its users from taking screenshots of their private chats if enabled. That is not all. There are also reports that another update the company is working on, a fingerprint authentication security feature will have users scan their fingerprint to access chats. Although the new feature has already begun to generate mixed feelings, it is not yet known if this new feature will apply to Andriod users or iPhone users or both of them.
