BET Experience Africa 2015

The BET Experience Africa 2015 lit up the Ticket Pro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa on saturday, December 12, 2015. The debut lifestyle event kicked off with several fun activities including a basketball game, sneakers expo, car drifting and musical performances.  The BET Experience Africa 2015 has set new grounds for its contenders to follow, South Africa witnessed over three thousand guests gather to experience the first ever BET Experience in Africa.

The event saw awesome performances from international acts including R&B superstar Maxwell, award winning singer Mary J Blige, Young Thug, and Raphael Saadiq. There were also performances from some of the biggest acts on the continent including Flavour Nabania, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz and South Africa’s AKA.



During Raphael Saadiq’s performance, the guitarist paid tribute to the legendary music icon Fela Anikulapo Kuti by presenting a variety of fresh musical renditions of his music whilst the late Kuti’s video played in the background.


Things got hot when Flavour took off his shirt on stage. Several upcoming South African artists including Emtee, Fifi Cooper,WTF, Patty Monroe, Moonchild, Stilo Magolide also showcased their talent.


The one-day festival had comedy sessions from African comedians like Churchill, Tats Nkozo and David Kau. There was also a fashion runway show hosted by Bonang Matheba.

South African TV presenter, Nikiwe Bikitsha moderated the Genius Talks, which had South African minister of Sports and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula, Head of NBA Africa, Amadou Gallo Fall, BETs President of programming, Stephen Hill, Khanyi Dhlomo, Greg Maloka and CEO/Founder of Black Girls Rock, Beverly Bond.
