Oscar-winning actress, Lupita Nyongo has joined the growing list of stars to accuse the disgraced Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein, of sexual harassment.

In an Op-ed she wrote for The New York Times, the newspaper that published the initial report on Weinstein, Lupita shared how she and Harvey met and her experience afterwards.

In one encounter, the Kenyan-born actress narrated how Weinstein invited her to his home in Connecticut to watch his new film, after having lunch together.

But she said shortly after it started he “insisted” in front of his children that she follow him and she was led to his bedroom.

“Harvey led me into a bedroom — his bedroom — and announced that he wanted to give me a massage. I thought he was joking at first. He was not. For the first time since I met him, I felt unsafe. I panicked a little and thought quickly to offer to give him one instead: It would allow me to be in control physically, to know exactly where his hands were at all times.”

Lupita wriggled her way out of that encounter and subsequent ones even after Harvey tried to lure her with movie roles.

A growing number of actors in the film industry have made accusations against the Hollywood film producer.

The latest sexual harassment accusation has spurred a global campaign, #MeToo encouraging women (and even men) to come out to share their sexual harassment stories.

Nyong’o said she is now speaking out to end the “conspiracy of silence”. Other actors like Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, while Rose McGowan said he raped her.

Weinstein, who was forced to resign from The Weinstein Company and Miramax, his production outfit, has, however, “unequivocally denied” many of these allegations of non-consensual sex.
