The Heineken Lagos Fashion Design Week is almost here, starting from the 25 to the 28th October at Eko Atlantic. Models are possibly the most important part of the runway, because they flaunt and sell the showcasing clothes to the press and buyers.

Models also play a really important part of the design process, as they show what a garment looks like on a person rather than on a mannequin, giving the audience a real life idea of how the clothes feel and move.

Nigerian models are gaining more popularity and importance in the cut-throat global fashion scene, meaning that they are doing something right. Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week (HLFDW) gave them a starting point as the most important event in Nigeria’s fashion calendar, and they are all exceeding expectations.

Mayowa Nicholas is currently the nation’s biggest fashion export; Davidson Obennebo was the first black model to win The Elite Model Look competition, Nneoma Anosike was one of the faces of Fenty Beauty’s campaign and they aren’t the only ones excelling!

On that note, after we enjoyed seeing them storm the runway at LFDW last year, these are the models we’d like to see again this year on the runway:
