Nigerian-American award-winning writer of fantasy, science fiction and speculative fiction, Nnedi Okorafor, just keeps winning!

Okorafor just landed a Marvel gig to write a three-issue storyline for the Black Panther comic.

The sci-fi sweetheart announced the news on Twitter right after the release of Akata Warrior, a sequel to her earlier book Akata Witch.

She is also creating another Marvel comic series called “Blessing in Disguise”, inspired by the kidnapped Chibok girls.

Her 2010 fantasy novel, Who Fears Death, has been optioned by HBO for a TV series to be produced by Game of Thrones creator George Martin.

Okorafor recently gave a TED talk at Arusha, Tanzania. She also won the 2016 Nebula Award and the 2016 Hugo Award for Best Novella for her novel, Binti.

“Black Panther: Long Live the King” is set to be released bi-weekly on digital comic platform ComiXology, starting this December.

The story by Okorafor, which picks up from where American author Ta- Nehisi Coates left off in the previous series, will be set in the fantasy world of Wakanda.

Okorafor has been gaining accolades and prominence in a white, male-dominated industry. She is making her mark, and we are so proud of her!

But being one of the very few black women writing sci-fi has not come without its share of issues as the writer said she received sexist trolling following the announcement. She told her critics to bring it on.

You’re doing amazing, sweetie!
