Sir Shina Peters and rapper Reminisce are set to headline the fifth edition of the yearly Ofada Rice Day Festival, Nigeria’s largest indigenous food celebration. Holding on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos, the ‘Ofadabration’ event aims to promote the consumption of locally grown, healthful meals, showcasing the richness of Nigerian heritage.
Organised by Oluwatobi Fletcher, the founder of Ofada boy, the festival promises a family fun-fair outing, allowing attendees to experience a variety of local delicacies while enjoying performances by artists spanning multiple generations. This year’s edition will feature live performances by veteran juju maestro Sir Shina Peters, Reminisce, and other talented artists yet to be revealed.
Highlighting the collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Lagos State Commissioner of Agriculture, Ruth Abisola Olusanya, emphasised the festival’s significance in promoting homegrown rice. She acknowledged Lagos State’s high number of rice farmers, with most farms situated in Ogun State due to land constraints. Olusanya also noted that the festival provides an opportunity for people to unwind and partake in a unique native celebration that holds significance for Nigeria.

Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde Calls Out Turkish Airlines for Lack of Nollywood Films
Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has stated her disapproval of Turkish Airlines for not showing any Nollywood films during her just concluded 40-hour flight. In her Instagram post, Omotola accused the airline of unfair treatment against African travellers.
Omotola said during her long flight, only films from Turkey, Asia, Bollywood, Hollywood, and the Middle East were shown. She stated, “Dear @turkishairlines, like many other foreign companies, you might be discriminating against African destinations and travellers, and that needs to stop.”
She further knocked the airline’s lack of regard for African paying customers, highlighting an unexplained layover in Uganda that was not included in her booking. Omotola questioned why African travellers often pay higher fares than their counterparts, yet they are subjected to utter disregard and favouritism.
Omotola’s observations have ignited a conversation about the need for diversity and representation in the entertainment industry, particularly in the sphere of international air travel.
