16-year-old arrested with pistol in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy after he was found in possession of a pistol in Ebute-Ero, a suburb of Lagos.

The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday.

Hundeyin said vigilant residents had alerted the police after spotting the teenager, identified as Solomon Ibiwoye, with a firearm.

According to him, police operatives searched his house and a locally fabricated firearm and an unexpended cartridge were recovered.

“Kudos to observant Lagosians who noticed 16-year-old Solomon Ibiwoye with a firearm and discreetly alerted Ebute-Ero Police Division,” said Hndeyin.

“The police searched his house and recovered a locally fabricated firearm and an unexpended cartridge. Investigation is in progress. One more firearm off the streets.”

The spokesperson also urged Lagos residents to be vigilant and report crime to security agencies.

“See something, say something,” he added.
