Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Christians in the state and Nigeria as a whole on this year’s Easter celebration, even as he reiterated the commitment of his administration to forging ahead with its numerous developmental strides.
The governor, in his Easter message in Abeokuta yesterday, also called on Nigerians to look forward to a brighter future in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the governor, who acknowledged the sacrifices of Christian faithful and the sanctification and purification they went through during the 40-day Lenten period marked by fasting and abstinence, prayer and reflection, and acts of charity amid the economic and other challenges facing the country, said that the exercise would greatly assist in transforming the country spiritually and help it achieve great things.
He urged Christians nationwide to continue praying for the government and fellow citizens and not allow evil people with diversionary tactics to prevail.
Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, who also felicitated with Christians in the state and across the country on the Easter festival, charged them to use the auspicious occasion, which marks the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, to pray for the country and its leaders.
Makinde, who gave the charge at the weekend, equally called on Christian faithful to imbibe the lessons inherent in Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross and his resurrection.
Also, former Governor of Ogun and senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Gbenga Daniel, who called for unity in Nigeria, said that the Easter season reminds the faithful of abundant love, which is represented in the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross as a message of hope and salvation.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Solomon Adeola, called on all Nigerians to pray for Tinubu and the nation as the administration continues to implement the Renewed Hope Agenda in laying a solid foundation for a prosperous and secure future.
In his 2025 Easter message to his constituents and other Nigerians, signed and made available by his Media Adviser, Kayode Odunaro, Adeola appealed to all Christians and others to imbibe Christian virtues of sacrifice, patience, love and abiding faith for a better tomorrow as exemplified in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, stressing that it is not possible to develop any society where the Christian virtues of love, sacrifices for one another, patience and hope for a better future are scarce commodity.
RELATEDLY, the wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr Claudia Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has called on parents to not just instil the values of faith, unity, respect, empathy, and love in their children, but also to exhibit the values in their day-to-day activities.
Sanwo-Olu, while speaking during the 2025 Easter party fiesta for children organised by the Office of the First Lady, themed ‘Love beyond measure’, said that these are the virtues that shape positive character and prepare children for a bright and responsible future.
She, therefore, implored the children never to underestimate the power of hard work, discipline, and faith, but to stay committed to their goals, even when the road seems tough. She also urged them to keep learning, growing, and believing, because the future belongs to those who dare to dream and are willing to work for it.
