Ondo State Government has appointed Prof. Olugbenga Ebenezer Ige as the acting Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State. This was contained in a statement issued, yesterday, by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr. Segun Ajiboye.
According to him, the appointment is for a period of six months. “Following the expiration of the tenure of Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun as the Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, on January 5, 2020, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has, in exercise of the powers conferred on him as the Visitor to the University, approved the appointment of Prof. Olugbenga Ige as Acting Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, with effect from January 6, 2020.
Ige, who was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the institution until appointment, replaces Prof Ajibefun, whose five-year tenure as the fifth substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution would end today.The former Deputy VC joined the services of the then Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti, as a Graduate Assistant in December 1990, and rose steadily through the ranks to become a Professor in October 2011.The new Acting VC hails from Ita-Ogbolu, Akure North Local Council of the State and he is married with children.
