Akwa Ibom police arrest 36 suspected criminals, kidnappers, cultists

Operatives of Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested 36 suspected criminals, including kidnappers, who specialised in kidnapping on the shore and hiding their victims in the creeks.

Also arrested were their native doctors as well as notorious cultists and armed robbers, while arms and ammunition were recovered from their hideouts.

The state’s new Commissioner of Police,  Olatoye Durosinmi, who disclosed this in an Interview with The Guardian yesterday, promised tough times for criminals terrorising residents, stressing  that the state will be too hot for criminals henceforth.

Also, as preventive measures to prevent jail break, the CP  has also  ordered the immediate deployment of more police personnel to boost the security situation in all correctional facilities located  in  Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, Eket and Ikot Abasi, within Akwa Ibom State.

Durosinmi, who warned the officers to be vigilant and courageous,  said his team embarked on constant patrol to ensure safety of life and property in the state.

He also called for collaborative efforts with the public,  adding that security requires joint efforts.

He said the Police needs the assistance of the stakeholders, community, clerics, students, market women, traditional rulers and youths to work together to enable the state to have peace.

The CP said: “We will deal ruthlessly with the hoodlums. They either repent or leave the state because this state will be too hot for them henceforth. We are chasing them out of Akwa Ibom for residents to sleep with their two eyes closed as well as making the residents have confidence in the police.”
