ANAMBRA State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the alleged lopsidedness appointments so far made by President Muhammadu Buhari, however, urging South Easterners to remain calm.

The state Chairman of PDP, Prince Ken Emeakayi at Awka weekend described Buhari’s appointments style as “the marginalization of a people.”

According to the party chief, “Now that it has become obvious that the ‘change’ which APC promised Ndigbo is nothing other than marginalization, harassment and intimidation, we however, wish call on all our people to remain calm even as we maintain that the Igbo nation can never be frightened into submission by any political party or government.

“Our dear President makes no pretences in confirming that hard time awaits Ndigbo and all those that did not vote for the APC in the last general election. From the appointments made so far by President Buhari and his party, the message is clear that the Igbo nation has no place and future with Buhari.

“While we have no regrets whatsoever as members of Peoples Democratic Party and the faithful supporters of former President Goodluck Jonathan during the last presidential election, we cannot pretend to be happy seeing our people from the South East, even the APC members, who supported President Buhari during the election now being victimized and marginalized for no reasons other than that they are Igbo.”

Emeakayi pointed out that “There are eminently qualified Igbo people who are APC members and as such the APC-led Federal Government is morally bound to give equal opportunities to the people of the South East similar to the appointments being given to their colleagues from the Northern part of Nigeria and elsewhere.

“The Igbo are not, have not been and can never be second class citizens under any guise to anyone or political party in this country.

“While we pledge our support to the anti-graft war, it is our hope that the anti corruption crusade would not turn out to become an instrument of oppression that can be skewed in favor or against political party affiliations, ethnic nationality, voting pattern, percentage support to Buhari.”
