At Easter, Bamidele, Fayemi preach unity, holiness, compassion, others

As Christians worldwide marked Easter Sunday yesterday with prayers and reflection, Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, used the occasion to send a message of unity and purpose, urging Nigerian leaders to emulate the selfless example of Jesus Christ, and rise above divisive politics that threatens national cohesion.

Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District, in a statement through his media office, warned that Nigeria’s deepening security and social challenges cannot be solved by political grandstanding or sectional rhetoric, but by leadership rooted in justice, love, and shared responsibility.

In a significant policy revelation, the Senate Leader disclosed that the National Assembly is developing legal frameworks to establish state police, describing it as a decisive step towards tackling the country’s worsening insecurity.

ALSO, the immediate past governor of Ekiti State and former Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Dr Kayode Fayemi, urged Nigerians to reflect on the message of Easter by being compassionate, helping one another and being Christ-like.

In a message to mark the celebration issued by his Media Office, Fayemi extended warm wishes to Nigerians, especially Christians, describing the season as a sacred time to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The former governor implored citizens to imbibe the virtues Easter represents by reaching out to one another in unity and kindness, rising above divisions, and working collectively to build a more just, peaceful, and prosperous society.

Acknowledging the difficult economic and political realities facing the country, Fayemi noted that the current challenges are testing the resilience and unity of the Nigerian people.
