AYC disowns Adams Reuben over statement against Atiku

The Arewa Youth Council (AYC) has officially disclaimed statements attributed tohttps://guardian.ng/wp-admin/post-new.php Adams Reuben, who falsely claimed to be the President of the organization.

This clarification follows a recent statement signed by Reuben that was published in several national dailies denigrating Atiku Abubakar following the former Nigerian Vice President’s criticism of the Bola Tinubu administration.

The AYC stated categorically that Reuben has no affiliation whatsoever with the Council.

Dogo Shagari, which the statement described as the “the duly recognised President of the AYC,” said: “Even though we are not interested in the content of the said statement, we wish to categorically state that the individual known as Reuben Adams is not a member of our organisation and has never held any position within the Arewa Youth Council.”

The Council described Reuben’s actions as unauthorised and misleading, and urged the public and media outlets to disregard any statements purportedly made on behalf of the AYC by him.

In a statement jointly signed by Shagari and Abdullahi Bilal, Publicity Secretary of the Council, the AYC called upon the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services to investigate and prosecute Reuben for impersonation and related offenses.

They emphasised that such fraudulent representation undermines the credibility and integrity of the AYC and could potentially incite public unrest.

Reaffirming their commitment to unity, development, and national cohesion in northern Nigeria and beyond, the AYC distanced itself from any remarks that could sow discord or promote hate speech. They stressed their dedication to constructive dialogue, good governance, and youth empowerment.
