Buhari mourns Ogbunike monarch, Umenyiora
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of Igwe John Ositadimma Umenyiora, Ezedioramma 1 of Ogbunike and Okpala Iguedo in Oyi Council Area of Anambra State.
The President also extended commiserations to Governor Willie Obiano, the Ogbunike community and the Umenyiora Family over the transition of the monarch, who he described as a symbol of humanitarianism, progressiveness and visionary leadership.
He said throughout his 44 years on the throne, the deceased monarch demonstrated deep affection and love for the progress of his subjects, working to improve the wellbeing of his people through education, commerce, economic empowerment and development.
Buhari recalled that when he first sought election for the nation’s presidency, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo of blessed memory, was his running mate and just like the late Igwe, he (Okadigbo) possessed great leadership qualities.
He encouraged the Ogbunike community, host of the famous cave in the South East, to continue to honour Umenyiora’s legacy of commitment to peaceful co-existence, prosperity and harmony.
