As Enyimba International FC of Aba scale through the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League, its Coach, Paul Aigbogun, says the team is ready for next their opponent.
Enyimba, two-time champions of the competition, which qualified for the first round on a 2-1 aggregate, will play Vital’O FC of Burundi.
The Aba side on Sunday in Port Harcourt beat Vipers of Uganda 2-0 in the return leg of the tournament after they lost the first leg 0-1 in Kampala two weeks ago.
Aigbogun said his side was in control of the game against the Ugandans and deserved the win.
This is a game we were in control of. We had a lot of chances and if we had taken our chances, the goal margin could have been higher.
We will go back to work on our finishing abilities and prepare for our next opponents,’’ he said.
Aigbogun also praised the Ugandans for their ability to hold on to the ball and create chances.
They are a very good side. They are not a bad team and had good possession during the game,’’ he said.
Vipers FC Coach, George Nsimbe, refused to talk after the match.
I have nothing to say. I hope you all saw the officiating. Sorry, I have nothing to say,’’ he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh scored a brace for his side in the 30th and 61st minutes.
Udoh said after the match that he was happy scoring the decisive goals for his side.
Scoring has never been strange to me. It’s what I love doing. I have been away for some time due to injury, but I am so happy and thank God for making this game a huge success,’’ he said. (NAN)
