Worried over increasing insecurity, a Civil Society Organisation, Citizens Action for Good Governance, has urged governors to expedite actions towards the success of the community policing initiative.

The group said the community policing if fully adopted by the governors, would tame crime across the country, particularly in the North.

Its National Coordinator, Nazir Galandanchi noted that insecurity in Nigeria has reached an alarming level that stresses the need for the political class to shun mischief and eschew playing politics with security of lives and properties. He recalled that the Federal Government approved N13.3 billion for the take-off of the initiative across the country in August 2020. They lamented that rather than embracing the initiative, many governors made caricature of the policy by launching parallel platforms to sabotage the efforts of the federal government, adding that only one governor has openly expressed readiness to facilitate the commencement of the initiative in his state.
