Dare2Dream (D2D) recently launched this year’s edition of its master classes, after months of anticipation, considering the huge success of season 1. Prominent business moguls and first-rate entertainers, who share their stories and words of inspiration as well as mentor participants, usually present the classes.

The first mentor at the FCMB Challenge during the D2D Bootcamp was Mrs. Hafsat Abiola, an internationally renowned human right activist, who held her Masterclass at the FCMB Headquarters shared her story and the challenges she faced after the events that affected her family. Abiola urged the D2D finalists, saying: “ It’s very important to build your own strength regardless of the circumstances, dare to pursue you dream, dare to plan for the worst. You will surely experience difficulties, do not relent but strive on.” Abiola also spoke about integrity: “Your integrity in life should be the most important thing to you.” She advised the girls to never take easy routes in life, to never be a doormat to any man, to work hard for what they wanted to achieve and to work towards gaining respect.

OrekunrinThe second mentor at the boot camp was Dr. Ola Orekunrin, a medical doctor, helicopter pilot and the founder of Flying Doctors Nigeria. She talked about her childhood and how she grew up in a foster house in the UK. She told the participants, “Your background does not determine your destiny,” and highlighted the importance of starting with a dream and passion regardless of the funds available. She also encouraged them to always learn from failure and not give up, saying, “Failure is not a person, it is an event. You learn more from failure than you learn from success.” Dr. Ola defined entrepreneurship as “being resourceful. It is the ability of believe you can do anything you set your mind to despite the lack of resources.” She went on saying, “The people who generate wealth are the ones who are able to create multiples of themselves.”
