Daniel, Olusi, others canvass support for Tinubu

Ex-governor discloses approval of N480.4 billion for SWDC

Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Gbenga Daniel, yesterday, disclosed that the Federal Government had approved N480.4 billion for the Southwest Development Commission (SWDC).

He also said that President Bola Tinubu is working relentlessly to ensure that the best among the brains and professionals across the Yoruba people, both at home and in the Diaspora, constitute the board of the commission.

Daniel, who spoke yesterday during a meeting organised by Yoruba Leaders of Thought held at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, also urged all Yoruba people, as well as other Nigerians with foresight, to support the administration of President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said that even the international communities that were once sceptical about the policies of President Tinubu are beginning to see and understand that the former governor of Lagos meant well for the growth and development of the country.

The Ogun East lawmaker, while appealing to Nigerians not to listen to the sentiments orchestrated by those who want the old status quo to remain in the country due to their selfish and personal interest, said it is in the best interest of the South and those who meant well and foresee a better future for the country to support Tinubu.

Chairman of the group, Tajudeen Olusi, specifically lamented the nature of disunity among Yoruba people. He said that the people should forget their differences and work as a team to support Tinubu.

Also speaking, National Coordinator, Yoruba Patriot, Oladosu Oladipo, explained that the very core restructuring by the President is the local council autonomy, which some forces in the North do not want.

Founder, Agbekoya Group, Ronke Okusanya, called for aggressive advocacy among Yoruba people, especially to make the core professionals across every field of endeavour see the need to support the government.

Meanwhile, some stakeholders expressed concerns that armed foreigners from the North had already surrounded Yoruba land and something needed to be done about that. But in response to the fear, Maj.-Gen. Ayo Olukoju (rtd) said there was no cause for alarm as long as we support the incumbent government.
