Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, over the weekend donated one million naira, 50 bags of rice and other food items to internally displaced persons, at the Berger Yard temporary shelter, in Asaba.

He said the gesture is his little way of identifying with flood victims in his state, being the highest political office holder and leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. He said he was in the state on a fact-finding mission on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari to see how government can activate support mechanism for flood victims.

“This is basically my personal contribution. From this visit, the Federal Government will know what the needs are and further support them,” he said.He said: “What I found here is that people are residing in shanties. They will need to be resettled. But in the interim, we have to ensure that those in the IDP camps are well catered for, in terms of feeding, water and medical.”
