Delta Peoples Alliance sends goodwill message to all Nigerians at Christmas
The Delta Peoples Alliance (DPA), has felicitated with Christians in Nigeria as they join others across the world to celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.
In a joint statement by officers of the group Mr Sunday Ochuko Egbo (Secretary), Mr Bright Idjerhefere (PRO), and Hon Prince Otemu (Publicity Director), led by the President Hon. Cliff Otubu enjoined Nigerians to look beyond the merriment and thanksgiving that have come to be associated with the season, and remember Christ the reason for Christmas.
They urged all Christians be like Christ by emulating his humility, simple life, teachings and most of all his sacrificial love for mankind.
The president, Hon. Otubu said Christmas is the season for practical demonstration of love and universal goodwill through giving to the needy and good neighbourliness. However, he urged Nigerians to engage only in activities that enhance peace and harmony in their immediate environment and beyond, in the true spirit of the season even as they celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day.
“Jesus Christ embodies unconditional love, self-sacrifice, justice and peace, virtues which our country needs now more than ever as it faces huge challenges to sustain its democracy and development” he stated.
Mr. Egbo, the secretary enjoined all to reflect on the significance of the season and recommit to these virtues for the benefit of our dear country Nigeria and mankind in general. “Let us all continue to pray and work toward peace in Nigeria and engage only in actions that will make Nigeria the great country that it is” he said.
“The current challenges Nigeria is going through requires the continued cooperation, support and understanding of every Nigerian for the government to succeed. I have no doubt that meaningful collaboration among Nigerias both at home and in the diaspora will make the political environment conducive for addressing national challenges and harnessing opportunities,” Hon. Otemu said.
The officers on behalf of all Deltans living in the diaspora wish all Nigerians’ Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ahead.
