The Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association (YYSA), on Sunday, urged the former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to ignore the call by some political leaders to join them in their struggle to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
The association, in a statement, said: “We implore Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to ignore calls by the so-called coalition leaders to join them in their struggle against Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid
YYSA National President, Olalekan Hammed, described Kwankwaso as a heavyweight politician who is too big to stay long in an opposition party.
”The political alliance that strategically removed former president Jonathan from office in 2015 had many sitting governors from the north and south,” he said.
”It was a merger of about four to five political parties which comprised ACN, CPC, nPDP, Labour Party and part of APGA. It is that type of mega-colossal alliance that could be referred to as COALITION not aggrieved party chieftains unionism being presently led by the duo of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and former governor Nasir El-Rufai.
”Moreover, we believe that Engr. Kwankwaso understands the fact that President Tinubu is a master strategist who knows the game better.
”Although, with or without him (Sen. Kwankwaso), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will still be reelected in 2027, but we believe he should see positivity in decamping to APC, preferably to Atiku’s coalition.”
He said Kwankwaso is the second person in the entire north in terms of political gigantism after former president Buhari.
“Conclusively, we are appealing to him to backtrack and see the ruling All Progressives Congress as the best option for him to remain relevant.”
