The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo state Council on Sunday, felicitated with the Christian community on the occasion of Easter, calling on Christians and non Christians alike to embrace a peaceful celebration and to imbibe the spirit of selflessness and love daily.
This is contained in a statement signed by Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe.
Alenkhe also extended his Easter goodwill message to the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, his Deputy, Dennis Idahosa and all the members of the State Executive Council, praying God to give them the wisdom and guidance to lead Edo State to impactful projects, development and peace.
Alenkhe, who also enjoined all and sundry to be security conscious during the Easter festivities, noted that the Easter celebration, which is the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus signifies a new beginning, hope, and the promise of renewed life.
“The Easter celebration festivities is a reflection on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, expressions of joy and love,” Alenkhe said.
“We must collectively build a society where peace, unity and love thrives as Christians and non Christians alike as emulated in the gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ.”
The NUJ chairman also prayed for journalists in Edo and asked that the miracle of Easter will bring peace to them and their immediate families with love and peace.
He reminded journalists on the need to continue to adhere strictly to the ethics of the journalism profession by ensuring that the rules of media engagement are strongly followed.
