The Dean of Student Affairs of Kwara State University Malete, Prof AbdulRauf Ambali, has been appointed as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of AbdulRasaq Abubakar Toyin University (AATU) Ganmo in Kwara State.
The World Assembly of Al-Azhar University Cairo has, however, described the appointment as a round hole in a round peg.
A statement by the Egyptian varsity expressed confidence in the ability of Prof. Ambali to transform the new university into a world-class institution.
According to the chairman of Al-Azhar University Cairo Alumni in Kwara State, Prof. Salih Jum’ah Alaso, Ambali’s appointment as the VC of the new Ivory Tower “was not a surprise, in view of his academic pedigree and antecedent in university administration.
“Professor Ambali’s appointment to this esteemed position comes as no surprise, looking at his exemplary academic life during his studentship among us in Al-Azhar University, Cairo, and his commitment to the academic and community development at Kwara State University (Kwasu),” he stated.
The statement then expressed confidence that “Professor Ambali’s wealth of experience in academia and administration will greatly benefit the new brand university in its formative stage and will lead the institution to the highest path of academic excellence.”
Similarly, the Ilorin Emirate Community in Kwasu has described his appointment as a reward for trustworthiness, sincerity, selfless service, and dedication to work and community service.
A statement by the Ilorin Emirate Community in the school noted that the new VC, who is the outgoing chairman of the group, served the university and the group meritoriously.
It enjoined him to put his wealth of experience, academic, and administrative acumen to bear in making the university a cynosure of all eyes across the globe within a short time.
The body then prayed Allah to continue to grant him the knowledge and wisdom to pilot the affairs of the institution to greater heights.
