Operatives of Enugu State Police Command repelled an armed robbery attack, arrested a car theft suspect and recovered stolen vehicles and ammunition in multiple operations.

Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the state police command, revealed that these multiple operations occurred on February 1, 14 and 24.

“Police operatives of the Enugu State Command recently conducted multiple operations that led to the repelling of an armed robbery attack, the neutralisation of an armed robbery suspect, the arrest of a male car theft suspect, and the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and stolen vehicles.

“The recovered exhibits include one cut-to-size double-barreled gun with three live cartridges and two stolen Toyota Corolla cars, and other incriminating exhibits,” Ndukwe noted.

While narrating the series of events, Ndukwe said police operatives attached to the New Haven Division recovered a Toyota Corolla car that was reportedly stolen from where it was parked at Igbo Eze Street, Independence Layout, Enugu on February 1.

The car, which was hijacked by thieves, was abandoned two hours before it was recovered by police operatives.

The thieves fled when they discovered the police operatives were on their trail. The car was eventually later released to the owner.

In another operation, operatives from the Igbo-Etiti Division arrested a 23-year-old man identified as Sunday Ejiofor on February 14.

The car was recovered by police operatives, and the miscreant was remanded at a correctional centre following the conclusion of the investigation on the case.

The latest operation, as revealed by Ndukwe, occurred on Monday when operatives of the 9th Mile Police Division foiled an armed robbery attack along Owa Road, 9th Mile and arrested one of the miscreants while the others fled.

The police recovered a cut-to-size double-barreled gun with three live cartridges, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and other exhibits from the arrested miscreant.

Ndukwe further noted that a manhunt is currently ongoing to secure the arrest of the other miscreants who fled during the operation.
