A non-governmental organisation,Nuhu Lafarma Education Foundation, in Agaie Local Council of Niger State, has said in its 18 years of establishment, it has offered humanitarian interventions in various sphere of human endeavors ranging from scholarships, medical care, skills acquisition programmes for children, youths, women, vulnerable groups, including convicts,and the sick.
The Chairman Board of Trustees, BOT, Nuhu Lafarma; Education Foundation, Bregadier General Muhammad Bello Abdullahi Rtd, who stated this during the unveiling of JAMB CBT centre named after the 12th Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umaru Bago Tafida III, over the weekend as part activities for the 18th anniversary celebration of the foundation in Agaie.
General Bello also explained that the foundation during the period under review had sponsored no fewer than one thousand youths under post graduate students through full scholarship, bursary awards and special intervention programmes, adding that over N750 million had been disbursed as scholarship awards to students at various levels of their educational pursuit.
On youths and women empowerment, General Abdullahi revealed that the foundation has trained and empowered over two thousand persons in skill acquisition through master trainers on various Small and Medium Enterprise organizations, as well as distributed 5,000 starter packs to deserving individuals.
The Nuhu Lafarma Education Foundation BOT Chairman also highlighted that in the past, the organisation conducted over 10 medical outreaches and foot led the bill of more than 250 sick persons for various medical and surgical cases, pointing out that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the foundation distributed safety and relieve materials worth millions of naira to Niger State government hospitals, various health centers within the state and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In a related development,he stated that the foundation had provided portable drinking water to the people by drilling hundreds of boreholes.
He however urged the spirited individuals to support the course of the foundation by donating generously for the sake of Allah and humanity.
Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff CDS, General Christopher Musa, described the foundation as unique project which has made significant impact on the social, economic and educational growth of the people of Agaie.
The CDS represented by Brigadier General Madukpe Falana had promised that aside from the donation,he will personally support the foundation to enable it achieve the set objectives.
General Musa added,”I urged youths and women who are the beneficiaries of this noble course to key into numerous activities of the foundation, saying that it is an added advantage for them.”
Also speaking, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rullers, Alhaji(Dr) Yahaya Abubakar, auded the management of the foundation for uplifting the living condition of the people, and the empowerment of over 2,000 persons on skill acquisition through master trainers on small and medium enterprise.
The monarch, who was represented by Mayaki Nupe, Pharmacist Yahaya Mayaki, expressed delight with the founder and urged the wealthy individuals in the area to support the foundation.
