The Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) at the weekend urged the Federal Government to urgently release for the immediate completion of the Monkin Dam, located in Zing Local Council of Taraba State.

The commission’s head of administration, who led the inspection team to the state, Mohammed Zailani, noted that the competition of the project will boost commercial agriculture through irrigation for the benefit of the community.

He called on the relevant authorities to look inward by releasing the funds set aside for the project to the contractors.

Noting that the contractors assigned with the responsibility of handling the project “are still on ground”, the job, he said, would have been completed “but for the delay in releasing funds.”

The team also inspected the 49 kilometers Jalingo-Kona-Karim-Lamido road of which the state government recently constructed 6.5 kilometers with the remaining still not completed.

They also promised to work round the clock to facilitate the release the much-needed funds.

Federal Controller of Works in the state, Jimoh Moshood, confirmed that funds have not been released to the contractor for the completion of the road.

Zailani said the dam would address unemployment.

He enjoined the people of the community to cooperate the state and federal governments to achieve its dream of making the dam a reality.
