Students taking part in PwC Chess4Change mentorship and Mini-Challenge in Lagos

It was another exciting moment for secondary school students across Lagos State yesterday, as the second edition of the PwC Chess4Change began with tutoring sessions across 13 schools in the state.

The initiative began with the first edition in 2014 and is aimed at using the game of chess to develop strategic thinkers as well as re-direct and harness the potential of youths.

The chess mentorship programme and mini challenge started yesterday and will run till March 4 across five locations. The mentorship programme brings staff from PwC together with the students and provides a platform for interaction, mentorship and guidance, while the Mini-Challenge is an avenue for the participating schools to test their preparedness towards the grand slam tournament scheduled to hold in April 2016.

The schools that are participating in the programme are
Aiyetoro Senior Grammar School, Ebute Metta, Akande Dahunsi Memorial High School, Osborne, Aunty Ayo Girls Comprehensive High School, Ikoyi and Falomo Senior Secondary School, Falomo Ikoyi.

Others are Government Senior College Eric Moore Surulere, Government Senior College, V.I, Itolo Girls Senior Secondary School, off Eric Moore Surulere, Kings College Lagos, Kuramo Senior Secondary School, V.I, Methodist Girls High School, Sabo Yaba, New Era Senior Secondary School, Surulere, Sari Iganmu Secondary School, Orile and St. Timothy College, Onike Yaba.

The first day of the mentorship and mini challenge programme took place at Itolo Girls Senior Secondary School, off Eric Moore yesterday. It will be the turn of Aunty Ayo Girls Comprehensive, Keffi Street, Ikoyi today, while Government Senior College, Waziri Ibrahim Victoria Island will take its turn tomorrow.

On Thursday, Methodist Girls High School, Sabo Yaba will host the even, while Kings College Lagos, Main Campus will take its turn on Friday.
