Asks Adebayo, SSANU leaders to apologise within seven days
The Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has dismissed the allegation of sexual harassment made against the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, by a member of staff of the university, Folasade Adebayo.
The Council also condemned the audio recording of the vice chancellor without his knowledge and consent, saying that the recording was a tool for blackmail by Adebayo to get confirmation.
These were parts of the reports of the investigative committees constituted by Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) FUOYE branch publications, which was deliberated upon at its eighth extraordinary meeting held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Mufutau Ibrahim.
The Council, therefore, directed that the vice chancellor be advised in writing to be more careful and circumspect in dealing with subordinates. Also, the governing council found the Chairman and Secretary of SSANU FUOYE branch, Benjamin Faleye and Ayomikun Aluko, respectively, culpable of misconduct and graciously lifted their suspension with forfeiture of their half salaries during the period of suspension.
They are also to write letters of apology and undertake to abide by the laws of the university within seven days. However, the Council condemned the management for the preferential treatment meted out to Adebayo by backdating her promotion to 2015 in 2024; hence, it directed that the management be formally warned and desist from such an act.
