Ganduje mulls death penalty for kidnappers in Kano


Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has declared death penalty for kidnappers in Kano as part of measure to check the growing cases of kidnapping in the state.

Ganduje who made the declaration Thursday while inaugurating panel of inquiry on the Kano nine children recently rescued at Onisha, Anambra state.

Ganduje revealed that the state ministry of Justice has already been directed to commence necessary adjustment in the state penal code to inject the death sentence.


Available record from the police command in Kano indicated increase in cases of kidnapping of teenagers in Kano with about 45 kids between 2016 and 2019.

Ganduje’s stiff move to criminalise kidnapping in Kano is sending red signal to perpetrators of the dastardly act knowing fully well their days are numbered.
