Govt, Residents Differ On Compensation Over Road Construction
Edo State government and some residents of Uselu along the Benin- Ugbowo Road have differed on the non-payment of compensation to residents whose houses were affected by the expansion road.
Some residents of the area have decried the non-payment of their compensation. The aggrieved residents, who staged a peaceful protest at the State House of Assembly Complex, said they are yet to get any compensation from the state government.
The state commissioner of works, Osarodion Ogie, yesterday, shortly after inspection of ongoing roads construction works in Benin City, told journalists that the delay was due to discrepancies between government evaluators and the landlords over the cost of the affected properties.
