Senators in the ‘like-minds’ group have been warned to have a rethink of their conduct at the National Assembly, else they will be the unexpected clog in the wheel of Buhari’s administration.

This was the submission of an Abuja-based NGO, Society for Exemplary Leadership and Transparency, who maintained that the conduct of the senators, if unchecked, would hinder the resolve of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enthrone accountability, probity and transparency in governance.

In a statement, yesterday, signed by Elder Emmanuel Johnson, the group said it didn’t understand why the ‘like-minds’ Senator read political insinuation into the invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki.

The NGO said: “It is now clearer than before that this set of Senators are indeed hindrance to transparent governance promised Nigerians by the APC; they will scuttle legislations and policies design to enthrone accountability and transparency.”

Johnson wondered why the Senators could see the invitation as one from a legally constituted agency of the state instead of their parochial angle, adding that it would have been more altruistic if they had also questioned a similar invitation from EFCC to the daughter of former president, Umaru Yar’Adua, and Hajia Zainab Dakingari, wife of former Kebbi State governor.

He added: “We hasten to ask, why were you silent and did not mention ‘political motivation’ when, recently, other former state governors such as Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) and Sule Lamido (Jigawa) were invited to account for their years in office?
