Director-General of the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations (UN), José Graziano da Silva, has said that the human race is in grave danger due to distortion of the food system.

Silva stated this while delivering his text during the 2019 edition of the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report (SOFI) at the organisation’s headquarters in Rome.

He said: “Our food systems are distorted, and unless bolder actions are taken to fix them soon, humanity is at grave risk of increasing hunger, obesity and diet-related illnesses.”
