Jonathan, Buhari mourn Oronto Douglas




PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has paid tributes to his late Special Adviser on Strategy and Documentation, Mr. Oronto Ntaei Douglas, who passed on yesterday after a protracted battle with cancer.

Jonathan, who was accompanied to Douglas’ residence in Asokoro District in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by his vice, Mohammed Namadi Sambo, and other top officials, prayed for the repose of his soul.

The President was received by the first civilian governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Dieprieye Alamieyeseigha and others.

President Jonathan said, “It is quite sad, I and the late Douglas are from the same local government in Bayelsa State.”

Also, President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with President Jonathan over the demise of his Special Adviser on Strategy and Documentation.

In a condolence message to the President, made available to the media by the Directorate of Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign, Garba Shehu, in Abuja, General Buhari said: “I received the news of the death of your long-standing and key aide, Oronto Douglas with sadness.

“I urge you, Mr. President to take heart and to convey my condolences to his immediate family as we pray for the repose of his humble soul.”
