Joy, gratitude as Ise receives classrooms, others from Chinese

An elated Oba Ganiu Adebowale Adegbesan (Onise of Ise Land) couldn’t contain his pleasure, as he conveyed his people’s gratitude at receiving such a valuable and lasting gift from the Chinese community in Nigeria.

The sleepy Ise Land in Lekki Local Council Development Area came alive penultimate Friday, as dignitaries, sons and daughters of the community, together with their children and well-wishers gathered at Ise Primary School to witness official commissioning of blocks of five classrooms, offices and a school hall donated by some Chinese companies.

It was a colourful day of joy, gratitude, songs, dance, speeches and merriment, depicting guests’ mood and the occasion.

He was particularly appreciative of Mr. Eric Ni, Chairman, China Industrial and Commercial Enterprises Association (CICAE) for his untiring efforts at coordinating and ensuring that the project was completed.

Explaining that the classroom rehabilitation was one of the four China-Africa People-to-people Friendship Action projects undertaken this year, Mr. Chao Xiao Liang, China Consular General, praised all participant companies, which include China Industrial and Commercial Enterprises Association, which coordinated the project, Goodwill Ceramic, Homate System Company Ltd., LH Stainless Tank, Seven Stars Tissue, Kaway Shoe factory, Green NI Agriculture Resources Ltd., Future Star Socks, Yiwu Lao Fang Trade Co and Chint, among others, for contributing towards successful execution of the project.

Noting that 2017 marks 46th anniversary of establishment of China-Nigeria diplomatic relations, he said both countries should promote mutually benefitting agenda that will always bring about a win-win situation towards their development.

While urging the school staff and pupils to fully utilise and take care of the facilities, Dr. Ganiyu Oluremi Sopeyin, Chairman of SUBEB, lauded the Chinese for their kind gesture. He expressed the state government’s readiness to fully cooperate with and support Chinese Community in its goodwill and legitimate undertakings in the state.

One of the high points of the event was the conferment of chieftaincy title of Otunba Atunluse of Ise Land on Mr. Eric Ni by HRM, Oba Ganiu Adebowale Adegbesan for his contribution to the community’s educational and general development.

The Consular General and Secretary were also given awards for their friendship and interest in the development of Ise Land.
