Judge’s absence stalls suit on budget padding

The case filed by the suspended member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumini Jibril Kofa against the Speaker and other lawmakers could not be heard yesterday.

This followed the absence of the trial judge, Idris Koko. His nonappearance was said to be due to the judges’ conference in Abuja and the Christmas and New Year’s vacations that would come closely.

However, Jibril’s lead counsel, Bashir Muhammad Muqaddam, said the case might come up on January 18, when the court resumes.
