Aminu Umar Kofar Mazugal, a Kano State civil servant, displayed an act of integrity by returning a bag containing U.S. dollars valued at over N40 million he saw at the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre in Kano to its rightful owner.

Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed, the owner of the bag containing money, had sat near the mosque and had forgotten it at the hospital’s parking lot while rushing to catch a flight.

Umar, an employee at the hospital, saw the bag while he and his colleagues were cleaning the hospital’s pavement. As soon as he spotted it, he took it for safekeeping and waited patiently for its owner to return and claim his possession.

The hospital employee revealed that Mohammed returned an hour after he found the bag and handed it over to Mohammed after he gave a vivid description of the missing bag.

Mohammed, amazed by Umar’s integrity and selfless act, offered him a monetary reward. Umar declined the offer and only gave Mohammed his phone number.

Dr. Aminu Imam Yola, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, commended Umar’s honesty.

He also said the hospital management had submitted Umar’s name to the Kano State Hospitals Management Board for formal recognition.
