The police yesterday arrested two suspected kidnappers wearing military uniforms at the notorious Falgore forest in Tudun Wada local government area of Kano. They also intercepted two cyber criminals who specialize in hacking bank accounts and ATM cards as well as issuance of fake Military ID cards.
Parading the suspects at a press conference yesterday at the Bompia headquarters of the command, Kano state police commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu revealed that the kidnappers met their waterloo when the special anti-kidnapping squad of operation puff-adder in Kano invaded forest where the criminals perpetrate their heinous act.
The CP stressed that aside those found in the military uniforms, the operatives also tracked and arrested three kidnap suspects at Zangon Dan Audu Village, Rimi Gado local government of Kano state after intelligence report. He hinted that the operatives on surveillance patrol nabbed Hassan Idris and Abdulrazaq Ahmed. On arrest, the CP said the suspects have succeeded in defrauding people with the intent of producing fake NECO certificates and voter’s cards.
According to the CP, “following the complaint received of a threat text of kidnapping from some members of the public, the operatives swung into action, trailed and arrested one Sagir Iliyasu, Rabiu Adamu Alias Sadau and Mukhtar Sani and they have all confessed to have conspired to have sent messages threatening to kidnap one Sani Yahaya and his wife.”
Iliyasu hinted that the operatives in the last one month arrested 61 suspected criminals in connection with thuggery with 21 varieties of different dangerous weapons. “While on patrol at Kwanar Dangora Kiri local government area of Kano, our men also intercepted a Golf Car driven by one Aminu Ibrahim loaded with 11 bags of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp in company of one Nura Dalhatu. The case is under investigation. We also intercepted five suspects for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery. The suspects were arrested for stealing six solar panels and 124 solar batteries at various locations in the state”.
