The Ebony Campaign Team, a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, has called on the party’s leaders to reconsider the result of the local government primary election held on Saturday for the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The team alleged massive fraud and misplacement of justice, claiming that its principal, Idowu Daramola, won the primary election.
According to Morufdeen Bello, the group’s spokesperson, the primary election was marred by electoral malpractices, including the declaration of Daramola scoring zero votes despite allegedly scoring 17 out of 25 votes.
Bello described this as a “travesty of justice, an affront to logic, and an insult to the intelligence of the good people and delegates of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.”
The group accused the party’s electoral committee of attempting to impose an unpopular candidate on the people and warned of the danger this poses to the APC in Lagos.
They called on President Bola Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) to intervene in the situation, which is said to be creating tension in the area.
“We refused to be silenced! We will not be intimidated! We will not be deterred! We will not relent until justice is served and seen to have been done!” Bello declared.
The Ebony Campaign Team demands an immediate investigation into the primary election, reversal of the results, and recognition of Daramola as the winner.
They also called on the party to flush out electoral fraud and its promoters from the party at all costs.
The group vowed to fight on until justice is served and Daramola’s right as the winner is recognized.
“Our voices must be heard and our outrage and anger against this daylight and disgraceful act must be seen!” Bello added.
