LAUTECH VC justifies award of first class to 94 graduates

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Tuesday, said 94 of its graduates who bag First-Class honours in this year’s convocation can compete with outstanding graduates anywhere in the world.

While justifying the award of first-class honours, and vouching for all the 11,528 graduands of the institution, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rasak Olatunde Kalilu, pointed out that they were trained to stand out globally.

Kalilu stated this during the press conference heralding the 17th convocation ceremony and the 35th Founders’ day anniversary of the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor said the trajectory and performance of the products of the institution in the labour market lent credence to the fact that they merited their degrees.

He maintained that LAUTECH products working in companies, government establishments, and other outfits are giving a good account of themselves, stating that this showed the level of competence of the graduates the university churned out yearly.

The professor also disclosed that Adeladun Badirat Adeduntan from the Department of Science Laboratory Technology is the best-graduating student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.86.

He stated that the university continued to run academic programmes in 13 faculties, but the 11, 528 graduands of this year are products of twelve faculties.

“Of this number, 8,102 graduates will be admitted to the bachelor’s degrees. Out of this figure, 94 graduands are in the First Class division, 2,086 graduands in the Second Class Upper division, 3,494 graduands in the Second Class Lower division, 756 graduands in the Third Class division, and 12 in ordinary Pass.
