Makinde reshuffles cabinet, approves Saka Balogun’s appointment as Balogun of Ogbomoso

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, yesterday, carried out a cabinet reshuffle.

According to a letter signed by the governor’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, the reshuffle will see the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Seun Ashamu, move to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, while the current Commissioner for the Environment and Natural Resources, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, will move to the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.

Commissioner for Public Works, Prof. Dahud Shangodoyin, has been moved to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Solihu Adelabu, will oversee the Ministry of Establishments and Training, while the current Commissioner for Establishments, Segun Olayiwola, will now man the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

The letter stated that the movements are with immediate effect, as the governor charged the commissioners to continue to discharge their duties with utmost loyalty and commitment to the state.

In another development, the Oyo State Government has approved the nomination and appointment of Dr Saka Balogunas the new Balogun of Ogbomosoland.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade.

According to the statement, a document from the office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, revealed that the stool of the Balogun of Ogbomosoland has been vacant following the demise of the former Balogun of Ogbomosoland, Shittu Fasina.

According to the Information Commissioner, Balogun was unanimously nominated by the Balogun Taiwo Atere-Gbebi Ruling House and endorsed by the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III.

He said the new Balogun’s confirmation was in line with the Chiefs Law Cap. 28, Laws of Oyo State, 2000 and his appointment is effective from April 28, 2025.
