The police, on Friday, arraigned a 34-year-old man, Suluka Segun, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of assault.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 29 at about 10:00 a.m. at Iyana Eminrin in Ado-Ekiti.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N60,000, with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until November 17 for a hearing.
