Many feared trapped as building collapses at Ojodu Berger

It was a sad Saturday as a building housing a local restaurant on Oremeta Street in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos collapsed, with many feared dead.

As at the time of filing this report, rescue operations were ongoing with the police, emergency workers from Lagos agencies, Lagos State Public Works (LSPWC) , local residents and officials of the lkeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) deploying their equipment.

The Guardian learnt that the building collapsed at about 8: a.m., on Saturday morning.

Residents in the area told The Guardian that the ill-fated uncompleted storey building leave an unspecific number of people trapped.

Specifically, the building housing a popular Equal Rights restaurant located at Oremeta Street, used to be a relaxation joint where many young residents also visit to watch football.
