Miyetti Allah endorses Buhari, Bauchi gov for second term

• C’River south lawmakers shun Ayade’s re-election meeting
The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Socio-cultural Association of Nigeria has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term.

The Chairman of the group in Bauchi State, Garba Saleh, made the endorsement yesterday in Bauchi.

He said the Miyetti Allah decided to endorse him, because of his administration’s success in conquering insurgents in the Northeast.

Saleh declared that the association is solidly behind the president, adding that: “He is our brother and we must be at the forefront to show our support and solidarity.”

He also announced its support for the re-election of Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar.

The governor expressed appreciation to the group and promised not to disappoint them.

In a related development, some lawmakers in Cross River south shunned a meeting to endorse Governor Ben Ayade.

They were absent at the town hall endorsement meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akamkpa Local Council Area.

Those absent at the meeting were Hon. Daniel Auquo and Senator Gershom Bassey.

Also in Akpabuyo, Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Calabar south, Senator Bassey and Pastor Essien Ayi were absent.

However, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Joseph Bassey explained the absence of the lawmakers.

According to him, issues relating to the 2018 budget held them back.

He charged members of the party to return Ayade in 2019 to allow him to complete the projects he initiated in his present term.

He said party stakeholders, among them traditional rulers, had decided that Ayade should be the standard bearer for the party in 2019.

The next round of meetings would be for the people of Odukpani and Calabar Municipal federal constituencies.
