The traditional head of Mokwa, the Ndalele Mokwa in Niger State, Alhaji Muhammad Shaba Aliyu, has called for urgent fumigation of the area to avert the outbreak of diseases.
The call followed a deadly flood disaster that claimed several lives, with many still missing.
In a statement by the Secretary of NCWS, Niger State Chapter, Victoria Alkali, Nda Lele made the appeal when he received officials of National Council of Women’s Societies, Niger State Chapter in his palace.
The traditional head said the call for fumigation became necessarydue to discovery of some decomposed corpses in different parts of the Community,explaining that if nothing urgent is done, it is capable of causing major health disaster.
Alhaji Aliyu expressed delight with of officials of National Council of Women Societies for donating the relief items to the victims especially women and children who have not been able to meet their needs.
Ndalele added: “Our main problem now is that places are really smelly that means, there are more bodies under the roof.”
The visit of the council took members to the IDP Camps where they donated some relief materials such as clothes, food items, kitchen utensils and toiletries.
The president of the council, Mrs Justina Yakubu, said the gesture was to share in their pains,prayed that God should take care of the orphans and widows that some of them left behind and those that lost their properties that God will give them open doors, so that they will be able to rebuild their homes and settle down.
Receiving the relief items,the representative of the Coordinating Committee, Mr. Ibrahim Abubakarpromised that relief items would be judiciously utilized.
Expressing their joy, two of the victims, Mallam Abubakar Ibrahim and Mrs. Felicia Abba, thanked the NCWS for the visit and the gifts and also thanked God for what he has done. The council also visited the Sarkin Hausawa who solicited more assistance.
