Move Nigeria from consumption to production, PFN tells FG

Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has called on the Federal Government to address Nigeria’s economy by moving away from a consuming economy to a productive economy by producing or manufacturing what Nigerians need.

Questioning the rationale behind the importation of goods, PFN urged the Federal and state governments to invest in agriculture to bring down the prices of food items.

The PFN President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, who addressed newsmen, yesterday, on national issues, after its first national executive council meeting, commended Aliko Dangote for reducing petroleum products for the benefit of Nigerians.

Oke also condemned the closure of schools in the North, urging the governors in the region to reconsider their stand for the future of the children and the nation.

He described education as fundamental to the future progress and greatness of the nation and should not be tampered with in any way.

“From our research, even in Saudi Arabia where Islam originated from, they don’t don’t close schools down; so we shouldn’t be more Catholic than the Pope. We should practise our religion with wisdom, bearing in mind the future of our children.

“We want to advise the governors in the North to consider their stand and make sure that the future of our children is not jeopardised because of policies. It is unfortunate this is happening in the states that are backwards educationally,” Oke said.

Oke, who was re-elected in the last election held in Abuja, disclosed that the new administration of PFN was united to pursue the vision of the founding fathers with vigour, adding that PFN would honour the founding fathers and stand for the biblical values and ethos, they held very faithfully.

The Christian body promised to contribute to the economic prosperity of the nation by pursuing the commission of Christ to go into the world and make disciples of all nations as their core agenda.
