The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, on Friday inaugurated a borehole for the use of the people of Sympaya Village of Mpape Community in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

Mrs Buhari made the donation through her NGO,’Future Assured’ programme.

Represented by the former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Mrs Pauline Tallen, the wife of the president expressed the hope that the borehole would provide potable water to the community.

She, therefore, urged the people of the community to make judicious use of the facility, adding that it would prevent the consumption of contaminated water.

Earlier, the Chief of Sympaya village, Mr Amadu Dio, who spoke in Hausa language, thanked Mrs Aisha Buhari, for identifying with his community.

Dio said that the village had for a long time suffered from typhoid fever and other diseases due to the lack of potable water.

“For a long time, we have had difficulties getting clean water in this community; sometimes, we have confrontations with herdsmen because their cows also drink from the same source.”

According to him, their only source of water was the nearby river located about two kms. away from the community.

Dio prayed to Almighty God to guide and protect the wife of the President for her kind gesture to his community.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that early this year, Mrs Buhari made a similar donation to Wasa Village also in the FCT, to ease their water problem.
