The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, congratulated the three Nigerian children who competed and excelled at the 12th Annual Chess & Community Conference in the United States.

Three Nigerian children, Ferdinand, Mary, Mabel, and Jamiu, under the tutelage of a Nigerian chess prodigy and founder of Chess in Slums, Tunde Onakoya, had outstanding performances at the tournament.

Dabiri-Erewa described their feat as remarkable, noting that they showcased the brilliance and resilience of Nigerian youths on the global stage.

She also commended Onakoya for his dedication and commitment to empowering children from disadvantaged backgrounds with the game of chess.

“These kids have proven that talent knows no boundaries. Their victory is an inspiration, and we must continue to support initiatives that nurture our youth’s potential,” said Dabiri-Erewa.
